Beaconsfield Designs began as a joint venture between two sisters as an excuse to get together. It has since evolved into a full time venture for one of the sisters, Michelle Lydon. Introduced to throwing pottery when she was an Illustration major at Parsons School of Design in New York City, she continued taking classes after graduation and eventually invested in her own studio equipment. So now when she's not out drawing caricatures at festivals, events, or most recently the Norman Rockwell Museum, or working on a commissioned painting, she's most likely found in her studio playing with clay. Her background as a painter is evident in her approach to glazing. Her stoneware pieces are hand painted and instilled with a sense of gesture and movement. Each piece is unique. Utilizing lead free glazes, her functional pottery is oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe.
